It's a Society, Stupid

A time of national crisis, exposes the true nature of citizens. It is often in the form of sacrifice, and the willingness to restrict personal choice for the benefit of others in duress. It shows itself through volunteering, and neighborly help. Unfortunately it also reveals the selfish and the opportunists, who perceive themselves elitists, and respond as Me-liberals, concerned only with themselves.

The Covid 19 pandemic appeared to bring out the darker side of a surprising number of Americans. They assumed a radically liberal world view and rejected professional advice and science. It was the perfect storm of the social fringe, and a GOP leader who is a worldwide icon for science idiocy, and crippling narcissism, absent of any fragment of social conscience.

What these misfits fail to realize is that we are civilized members of a society first, and citizens of a government as a result. Those who would place their personal “liberties” above the most basic acts of civilized behavior, and rational judgment, should be declared social outcasts. They should be loaded on barges and pushed from our shores, in order that they might search for a place where societies do not exist.

Social conscience is the heart of any democracy. To put it aside, is to destroy the democracy.
