Since before 2016, the Republican policy began to be
guided by conspiracy theories rather than a rational analysis of
issues. It has now become so ingrained in the Republican culture, that
any change or challenge, is automatically assumed to be a competing
conspiracy that must be fought with suspicion and ridicule.
The
initial reaction to a pandemic was dismissed by Donald Trump. As Covid
spread and became an obvious threat to American lives, Mr. Trump
considered it a conspiracy directed at him personally. When Americans began dying by the tens of thousands, it
was recognized as a disease but fatalities were also dismissed as an
exaggeration of data, and strongly played down to his
followers, many of whom still believe there was no pandemic. Once it
became obvious the pandemic was a real threat to Americans,
Republicans diverted public attention to grandstand against protection
mandates. To this day card stock propaganda is in the mail boasting of
what they are doing to protect Americans, young and old from mandates.
What is profoundly absent in this reassurance, is any mention of
efforts to protect Americans from the pandemic.
In the ultimate lack of respect for democracy, Trump’s
loss in 2020 was, (of course) treated as a conspiracy. He responded
with the maturity of a brat who didn’t get an X-Box for Christmas. The
majority of the Republican leadership jumped on board the
mistrust-of-democracy wagon in force, lest they endure the juvenile
ridicule and career ending slander by their dear leader Donald.
This form of conspiracy-theory-governing has spread to
the “replacement” conspiracy they have now adopted. It is a political
tactic to convince Americans that racial and cultural diversity are
threats to their freedoms and jobs. It is thinly veiled bigotry with a
“We were here first mentality”. It attempts to erase any memory for
the racial and cultural diversity that was actually here before them. It is
a rewriting of our history to fit the growing Republican Conspiracy
Theory approach to controlling the willing.
During the 2016 presidential campaign it was made clear
by Trump’s juvenile bravado and physical antics during his
pep-rallies, that under his leadership, violence would be a socially
accepted means of expressing differences of opinion.
A huge percentage of today’s voters are either too
young or too apathetic to consider Trump’s invitation to the Soviet
Union in July of 1987 and the relationship the Russians cultivated
with him, through the Czech arm of the KGB. It did not go unnoticed by
Russia when in September of that same year Trump hinted at an interest
in running for US President.
The Democratic party has been sadly useless in exposing
the disintegration of the Republican Party and the fascism
rotting it from within. It seems that if your politics are dominated by politeness
and apology, you are either a Canadian or a Democrat. (No offense to
Canadians intended)
The impossible sales pitch to traditional Republican
voters will be the extraordinary contradiction: Considering pandemics
without controls, and systemic gun violence without limits, this new
version of Republicans is clearly Pro-Birth-at-any-cost but not
Pro-Life.
It’s time: to #TAKETHEPARTYBACK!
